Lab PI Participates in the First Symposium on Biofabrication Advances in Galicia

The Principal Investigator of our laboratory served as a committee member at the “I Jornada de Avances de la Biofabricación en Galicia”, an event focused on recent progress in biofabrication technologies.

The symposium took place alongside the graduation of the first cohort from Spain’s only Master’s program in Biofabrication. Ten professionals completed the program after presenting final projects.

The event reflects the growing interest in biofabrication among research groups and companies, and the lab’s participation highlights its involvement in emerging scientific initiatives in the region.

One Health, One Welfare: Lab Contributions at ICPD 2025 in Leuven

Our research group took part in the International Conference of Production Diseases in Farm Animals (ICPD 2025), held in Leuven, Belgium, from July 8 to 11, under the central theme “One Health, One Welfare.”

Lara Touza Otero delivered an oral presentation showcasing part of our research, while Patricia Diaz-Rodriguez presented the latest updates on the NeoGiANT project, funded by the European Commission under the H2020 programme.

The conference brought together international experts to exchange ideas and foster innovation aimed at preventing production diseases, improving animal welfare, and enhancing the quality of animal-derived products, challenges in modern farm animal production.

Lab Research Featured at the 8th International Conference on Tissue Engineering

Our research group was represented at the 8th International Conference on Tissue Engineering by Patricia Díaz-Rodríguez, who served as Chair of Session II: Long-term Integration and Function of Engineered Tissues.

During the session, she presented part of our ongoing work on Adaptive Bone Scaffolds for Controlled Drug Release and Enhanced Healing, highlighting innovative strategies for improving tissue regeneration and therapeutic delivery.

The conference provided a valuable platform for sharing advances in biomedical engineering and fostering international collaboration in regenerative medicine.

International Collaboration: Erasmus+ Internship at Comenius University

Empowering Vocational Education Through Innovation: Project Selected for FP Innova Galicia 2025

We’re proud to announce that our collaborative innovation project, “Sustainable Biomaterials: From Organic Waste to Bioplastics and Biofilms,” developed jointly with a local high school and funded by the Xunta de Galicia under the FP Innova framework, has been selected for presentation at FP Innova Galicia 2025.

This initiative represents a shared commitment to advancing vocational education (Formación Profesional) through hands-on research and sustainable innovation. By bridging the gap between secondary education and scientific practice, the project empowers young learners to engage with real-world challenges and contribute to a greener future.

Bringing Science to Students: Our Research Group at (In)fórmate! Feira Educativa

We’re thrilled to share that our research group actively participated in the (In)fórmate! Feira Educativa, an initiative promoted by the Concellería de Xuventude to support secondary school students in exploring their academic and professional futures.

As part of the event, our PhD student Arturo Lorenzo-Lorenzo led dynamic, hands-on scientific experiments with students from five local educational centers.

This collaboration reflects our commitment to making science accessible and inspiring for young minds.

Oral Presentation at EUFEPS / ÖPhG Annual Meeting 2025

We’re proud to share that our Principal Investigator, Patricia Diaz-Rodriguez, represented our research group at the EUFEPS / ÖPhG Joint Annual Meeting 2025, held in Vienna from February 19 to 21.

Her oral presentation showcased part of our ongoing research on intra-articular formulations, contributing to the meeting’s scientific exchange. The event brought together over 250 participants from 28 countries, highlighting cutting-edge developments in pharmaceutical sciences across Europe.

Fostering Scientific Exchange: Contribution to the 5th SPLC-CRS Young Scientists Meeting

Patricia Diaz-Rodriguez, our Principal Investigator, played an active role in the 5th SPLC-CRS Young Scientists Meeting as a member of the Organizing Committee. The event took place at the Institut Químic de Sarrià (IQS) in Barcelona, and welcomed over 100 attendees, creating a dynamic space for early-career researchers to connect and share their work in the field of controlled release and pharmaceutical sciences.
